I See Pink all Over - Grandpa and Grandma

I SEE PINK ALL OVER

The color pink will always be linked to the memory of my dear granddaughter Presley. From the pink roses to the pink skies at night, I see Presley. From pink neon signs to pink clothing racks at the store, I see Presley. From all things pink I gain the memory of Presley.

Most people would feel sympathy for me when they begin to read the first paragraph of this short story. Most people immediately begin to use the words “I’m so sorry!” At this point I proceed to respond with the words “Thank you.” However, what I would really like to say is “Why would you be sorry?” My granddaughter Presley touched more hearts and changed more lives than most will in a lifetime.

I am saddened that the Lord felt the need to take beautiful Presley after just 33 days. Her legacy will live on for years to come, in the words that were written and spoken about her, the memories she left behind and the smiles she has placed upon the faces of all who love her.

I’ll never forget the long rides to Miami to see you, read to you, pray over you and to say goodbye. Someday I will take a longer ride to see you again, when I can finally give you that squeezy hug I promised you on so many visits. Until that day comes remember “I’ll love you forever!” and I am committed to your memory in all things pink.

To my beautiful Presley,

How do I even start to explain how much I love you? My Granddaughter, my first beautiful, precious girl. The minute I found out Mommy and Daddy were expecting you, my heart swelled with love and pride. And when you were born, you were just loved more than you will ever know. Every second spent with you was just so special. Grandpa and I loved reading to you. Just thinking of you now makes me smile, yet sad, as you are supposed to be here with us, growing and being spoiled, but we know God needed an extra-special Angel, and he needed you!! I speak to you so often and smile and feel you near.

Presley, you will never be forgotten. Your name will always be said and will be known by all. You touched so many people's hearts in your 33 days here with us. Please watch over your Mommy and Daddy and all your family. I will continue to look for signs from you. I look forward to seeing you again one day, give you a big hug and kiss, and hearing you say "Grandma".
